CHIPS Presentation at Northampton! 23rd November 2012

Cory Brand who will be 13 on Dec 3rd is pictured receiving his specially adapted C.H.I.P.S. wheelchair that was built using money donated by Beacon Bingo customers.

Cory has Cerebral Palsy which means his increased muscle tone interferes with normal movement patterns. He can move independently on the floor, but needs help standing and walking, he has a walker and leg supports, but it is very tiring for him to try and walk and he can only manage short distances.

This wheelchair will change his life!
Cory loves football - don't most boys whatever their age! - and his favorite team is Chelsea. He also loves trying predict which horse will win at the races. We understand his favorite number is 2, might have to try that out!

Pictured with Cory are His Mum and Dad, Kevin Hamilton (COO Beacon Bingo) and Linda Lindsay ( Head of C.H.I.P.S.).

Chris and Beaky visited Boots head office at Nottingham to do a special game of Bingo!
We just wanted to say a big thank you to the following for their help and support with the Children in Need bingo session we did at Boots head office in Nottingham on Friday.

Thanks to:

Northampton club for supplying prizes, dabbers and books.
Cricklewood club for supplying prizes.
Loughborough club for supplying  dabbers and the team.

Special thanks to:

Adam & Gemma from Loughborough for selling books, looking after Beaky and checking claims. Plus a big round of applause to Craig for being Beaky!

Extra special thanks:

Kevin Hamilton for checking claims for the first time in seventeen years and taking the photos.

The event consisted of 8 pages of bingo split into four short 2 page sessions with an hour between each, so that people could play during their breaks, the last full house prize was tickets to the Children in Need special edition of Strictly Come Dancing plus hotel, Champaign etc, there  was also a raffle and an auction. All the players had  a whale of a time reminding us of just how much fun bingo can be, and as to the result......... we raised over £3,400!

Christian's Trek to Machu Picchu 12th November 2012

Christian outside the "Lost City of the Incas"
Christian Adams from the Northampton Beacon Bingo club completed a 10 day trek to Peru, tackling both jungle and mountain terrain, in order to visit Machu Picchu! In doing so he managed to raise over £4000 for the Warwickshire and Northampton Air Ambulance.

The expedition included 8 hours of trekking each day and overnight camping in dense jungles, not a task for the light hearted! Christian trained for 8 months in order to take on this journey - well done Christian!

Margate Relaunches with Great Success! 4th October 2012

Shaun Williamson and Jack Sparrow Open up the Margate Relaunch

September the 30th saw the relaunch of the Margate Beacon Bingo club, and they had some special guests to help them, including Shaun Williamson (better know as Barry from East Enders) and Captain Jack Sparrow. The night was a huge success and was enjoyed by many - if you're in the Margate area, why not pop in and have a look at the new layout?

Score with Northampton Beacon Bingo! 4th October 2012

Cobblers fan first to win (taken from NTFC)

Score with Beacon Bingo is the club's brand new matchday competition that takes place at selected home matches this season.

Three markers are placed on the pitch between the goal and the half way line. The contestant has to get the ball in the goal without it touching the floor or the goal line. If the ball goes in off the woodwork, the goal stands as long as it doesn’t bounce before or on the goal line. The ball must be kicked from a stationary position on the ground level with the selected marker.

Contestants get two chances from the first marker, which is worth £25 if they get the ball in. If they miss both, they walk away with nothing. If they Score with Beacon Bingo they can either keep the money or gamble at taking a kick from the next marker. This marker will be worth £250 and they get one chance. If they score and gamble then they get one chance at the final marker on the halfway line, which is worth £1,000.

The first winner of the competition was Nile Hollowell. Nile said, "I had seen the Cardiff game where Beacon were doing during half time competition. I told my Sunday side about it, and we all attempted it on the local park saying that it would be ever so easy to win the money (not realising that we had to get it in without it bouncing!) Nearly all of us succeeded and a few even said they might start heading down to the games if they were giving money away that easily!!! Then at the Rotherham game I was pulled out of the crowd to have a go so the pressure was on, even more so when I found out it was with no bounce!"

Nile was successful and, winning £250, and he visited Beacon Bingo recently to receive his cheque.

Contestants are picked at random from the crowd to take part. To register your interest please email scorewithbeaconbingo@ntfc.tv supplying a contact mobile phone number for the day and please let us know which stand you will be sitting in. The competition is open to home supporters only and all entrants must be over 18 years of age.

Earlier this year, Praesepe bought the Crown Bingo Hall in Redcar and it became a Beacon Bingo hall, with the new name to read "Beacon Redcar". While this has been happening though, a giant 80ft tower was having its name decided by the public - with the final name being "Redcar Beacon". The Redcar Beacon is also almost directly across the road from the Beacon Redcar!
